Samuel Roy Hagar, also known as The Red Rocker, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and businessman. Hagar emerged in the 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose. He then started a successful solo career, scoring long-term success in 1984 with "I Can't Drive 55". He achieved commercial success by replacing David Lee Roth as lead vocalist for Van Halen in 1985, but dropped it in 1996. He returned to the group in a two-year reunion from 2003. to 2005. On March 12, 2007, Hagar was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. His music style is mainly hard rock and heavy metal. Also an entrepreneur, Hagar founded the restaurant chain and brand Cabo Wabo Tequila, as well as Sammy Beach Bar Rum. His current musical endeavors include becoming the lead vocalist of Chickenfoot and Sammy Hagar and the Circle. Hagar is also the host of the Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar on Mark Cuban's AXS cable network.
